Reds in Amsterdam (Pt. 2)
Apparently there was a small amount of mither in the city on Wednesday, but for some, particularly this fan, Ajax and United go together like Malt Loaf and Butter.

Reds in Amsterdam Pt 1 (De Prael)
Work rather than football happened to send me to Amsterdam this week. No Europaleague for me but on Tuesday night, with the first Reds appearing in the city, I made my way to the DePrael brewery on the old beer wharf in the middle of Amsterdam.
You can read more about that the brewery in the latest issue of Manchester fanzine AFineLung, but like all good things a nod at tradition, a social awareness and erm…beer feature heavily in what they do.
Their beers are all named after Dutch pop singers. I went for Nelis (a seasonal light Bokbier), their IPA and, the clear winner, Willeke (a beer with a hint of coriander!). A bit of scran thrown in and some live jazz, it made for a very pleasant evening!
On a separate note, Amsterdam used to import it’s beer from Hamburg. Any reader’s know of a similar style independent brewery in the city on the Elbe? It always seems a shame when we only have stuff to drink from the brewing giants Carlsberg/Tuborg. Answers on a postcard to fcum.a.d[at]googlemail.com please!
